Enda o'Coineen returns to Sables d'Olonne after 14500 miles non stop from New Zealand
Enda o'Coineen from Galway arrived in Sables d'Olonne on his open 60 Le Souffle de Nord Team Ireland, non stop from New Zealand after his Vendéeboat was dismasted 300km south of New Zealand during the Vendée Globe. Enda finally completed the Vendée Race with having around 6 severe storms on the trip from New Zealand back to Sables d'Olonne, he had a much rougher weather passage than the Vendée entrants 17 months ago.
Enda O'Coineen was given a huge heros welcome (whilst he was dressed in pirate costume) as his boat motored into the entrance of Sables d'Olonne, many people were here to welcome Enda and was quite an emotional reunion with friends and family.
During the presentation at the Hissez'o boat show he was given a pint of Guinness which he gratefully received and drank without it touching the sides!
Enda whilst in New Zealand teamed up with fellow French Vendée Globe Sailor and Le Souffle du Nord charity.
After 66 days alone at sea, I am elated, it's incredible. I am overwhelmed and surrounded by thousands of people, who gave me an amazing welcome.

Well done Enda, a great cause and glad you got back safely
