According to the builder, the Kelly Peterson 46 hull and deck are hand-laminated, reinforced fiberglass. The deck is Airex cored between fiberglass layers. The interior is constructed using teak veneer plywood and solid teak. Structural members are bonded with fiberglass to the hull and the deck. The lead keel ballast is internally fiberglass bonded in place. The skeg-hung rudder is a high-density foam blade with a stainless steel rudder post.
All bronze portlights were refurbished and re-bedded in 2022. All deck hatch lenses were replaced between 2018 and 2022.
The deck and superstructure was painted with Alexseal, new Kiwi Grip nonskid was applied, and the bottom was painted in 2022.
Fuel tanks (2) and water tanks (4) are stainless steel. The holding tanks (2) are fiberglass. The port fuel tank was cleaned and inspected in 2018, and fuel tank sight tubes and shutoffs were replaced on each tank.
Waterline Boats / Boatshed does not independently verify capacities and measures, which are reported from seller-provided information and/or literature.

Kelly Peterson 46's inherently have a sleek and attractive look. This Kelly Peterson 46 is an especially sharp looking vessel due to her newer topside coatings, crisp canvas, teak caprails, recently refurbished bronze portlights that gleam, and double stainless rails aft of the cockpit.
Stepping aboard the Airex-cored decks feel solid underfoot.
The center cockpit is enclosed in a newer Iverson cockpit enclosure in very good condition which allows for comfortable cruising year-round in the Pacific Northwest. The cockpit upholstery is newer as well.
Navigation data (speed, depth, wind) and the chartplotter MFD are visible from the Edison Pedestal helm.
A forward companionway leads to the main cabin, and an aft companionway directly into the aft cabin.
The main cabin is configured with the galley to the port side of the ladder from the cockpit and the navigation station to starboard. The salon is laid out with a seating area convertible to a lee berth to port and a settee to starboard. The sole is teak and holly and the joinery is rich teak.
The galley has a functional amount of surface area and storage for provisions, including an undercounter freezer and a separate undercounter refrigerator. Both are cooled by a Frigiboat compressor system that was replaced in 2015. Other galley features include a 3-burner Hillerange gimbaled propane range and a double-basin stainless steel sink with pressurized potable water and manual water pumps (freshwater & raw-water).
The workshop is just aft of the galley and has a stainless steel workbench, vice, tool storage, and full height headroom when the port cockpit seating is raised, and the navigation station is to the starboard of the galley.
Storage is abundant. Hanging lockers, cabinets, and drawers are abundant throughout the cabin.
The forward stateroom is set up as a double berth and has direct access to the forward head compartment which contains a newer manual Raritan toilet, shower, and sink.

The Kelly Peterson 46 (KP46) is a bluewater cruiser featuring the comfort of two cabins and two heads. This vessel is known for its speed and performance, in all variety of winds. Cutter-rigged for easy handling with furling head sails. They track well and are responsive to turning due to their forefoot design and cutaway keel forward of the skeg hung rudder. It is a vessel that is easily handled by a couple, but accommodation-wise has room for friends or family.
Built at Queen Long Marine, a highly regarding yard known for its quality and craftsmanship (the same yard that builds Hylas Yachts). This Kelly/Peterson 46 is hull # 7 of the 30 Kelly/Peterson 46's that are said to have been built.
The sellers have owned and cruised this vessel for the past ten years and have caringly updated many of the systems, with an attention to detail. Notable features that make this Kelly Peterson 46 particularly desirable include:
--The Yanmar Turbo Diesel 4JH4-TE Marine engine was installed in 2015 and has 1550 hours. Engine access to port and starboard is excellent.
--Full Raymarine navigation electronics suite (2015) with autopilot and autopilot remote. The chartplotter can wirelessly communicate with handheld devices (phones / tables) to provide handheld navigation data.
--The Iverson Dodger & Cockpit enclosure is a work of art and provides the option of comfortable year-round cruising in any weather.
--200 watts of solar and an Espar diesel heater for comfortable cruising and anchoring
--Fresh coat of Alexseal topside paint in 2022. The bronze portlights were refurbished and re-bedded at this time.
--Doyle stackpack mainsail (2015) and roller furling (Harken) foresails.
--Transom davit with RIB tender
When this boat was in production in the 1980's the manufacturer reported that "the KP46 is the culmination of years of experience with cruising and yacht design. This is why the Kelly/Peterson 46 is so well built and equipped that it requires only a sextant and a destination." Nowadays, and with this KP46's modern navigation electronics, all that the new owner may require upon assuming the helm is a destination.
